one second every day – may 2014

may was… all over the place! :)

some highlights:

– a short (but lovely) trip to guernsey, to launch their postcrossing stamp
– making cheese for the first time
– and then relocating to the countryside, studying, clocking in lots of family time :)

one second every day – april 2014

i’ve just realized i’ve been making these little one second videos for over a year now! hooray! :)

despite the bugs in the app and the last-minute-panics (“oh my god it’s almost midnight and we still haven’t filmed one second today!”), it’s been going well. i still miss around 1 or 2 seconds every month, and it still feels like most of them are really mundane… but i love the result and the thrill that watching these 1 second memories brings. they make everything so vivid!

plus, i’m always surprised at how many people seem to enjoy them as well! every now and then, friends, family or even people i’ve just met tell me they look forward to these little glimpses of our life every month. it’s funny, and it kind of makes me feel bad for being so lazy making them sometimes…

so anyway, i just wanted to say thanks for watching! here’s april for you all:

in april we ran, we roadtrip’d in bavaria (and ate an inordinate amount of sausages), saw the coolest museums, went to london for the second time, did a cooking course at leiths, met with lots of friends… it was ridiculously amazing! :D

ps – here is what the past year looked like:
2013: march, april, may, june, july, august, september, october, november, december.
2014: january, february, march.

the game is afoot

so guess where we were in london…

north gower street! :D which sounds completely random, and i bet you’ve never heard of before… but if you’re a fan of bbc’s sherlock, you’ll probably recognise the door, and the café next to it from the series. i’m a huge fan, and so we did a couple of little detours to visit some of the sites in the show. i know, it’s corny, but hey! i plead my right to be a nerdy tourist in a foreign country! :)

i also dragged paulo along to st. bartholomew’s hospital, to look up from the pavement to the edge of the roof… it’s a pretty big fall.

on a nearby phone booth, fans had left dozens of love notes for their heroes, like a little johnlock shrine.

aaaaand of course, we visited baker street as well, which ended up being the most crowded (and the least interesting) of the three locations. we skipped the little museum inside, which we heard wasn’t all that good.

and that was it for our little sherlock’s tour of london! i wonder if next time i’ll be able to convince the boy to visit some dr. who places… :P
