if we wanted to take pictures of this hindu temple we had to pay a fee (on top of the entrance fee). i dislike extra fees, so i tucked the camera in my bag and only shot this one from the outside.
same thing in the hotel we stayed in hong kong last week. if you want to use the internet, you have to pay an extra fee. compared to the price we were paying for the room, the internet fee was so insignificant, why not just include it in the price? if this was a hostel or cheap hotel, i would understand. there? not so much.

Sounds like you were staying in an expensive hotel, if you’re prepared to pay a lot for a hotel you’re either on business or not price sensitive, either way a small internet charge isn’t going to be an issue for you!
The thing is, it’s not the price that bugs me. It’s the annoyance of having to pay that little extra, which should be included in the price in the first place because these days everybody uses the internet (even if just to scan the mail on the phone).
It’s annoying but that’s economics! Price sensitive consumers stay in cheaper hotels (hostels etc), invariably internet is free in these places.
The thing that really annoys me is that I always carry two laptops, one for personal use, one for business (my company is very sensitive about personal use on business laptops), I always get charged twice for internet use in hotels (you get charged per device, not per room).
