one second everyday — september 2019

september was all #150yearsofpostcards, all the time. we tested, drafted, printed, packed and flew to switzerland to set up the exhibition at the UPU. the work was so intense that i can barely remember what happened then earlier in the month… everything feels like a looooong time ago. glad we have these seconds to remember!

so we also played games with friends, hosted family and test-drove the phev car that is likely to replace our old diesel one. this is also the month when the mediterranean diet fair happens, tavira’s highlight event with entertainment and food for days. and switzerland was as nice as it promised to be! i hope we can go back some day to properly explore its mountains and lakes.

one second everyday — august 2019

august went by in a blaze of hot days, spent mostly indoors sheltering from the heat.

we worked on the 150 years of postcards project, which will soon come to a close. right now though, we’re in that intense phase that wakes me up in the middle of the night stressing about letter spacing and airport logistics, and makes me wonder why we do these things… but then, i read the messages on all the postcards that have been landing on our mailbox lately, and yeah — this is why.

after dark when temperatures dropped, we ventured outside to meet friends old and new, went to concerts and local fairs, babysat, and i picked up on my chinese studies — more on that in a future post. :)

one second everyday — july 2019

things have been quiet around here on the blog. lately, all our processing power has been going to an idea we’ve been ruminating for a long time, which is now out there: celebrating the 150th anniversary of postcards, later this year. there are people organizing meetings, museums and post offices involved, a giveaway, and even an exhibition at the universal postal union headquarters in october. it’s all coming together, and the excitement is real!

but since emails and work are not something i like putting on the video, there’s none of that here. so what else did we do this month?

we had friends staying over, and then went north for a few days to check on the family. we filled our bellies with good food, including an extraordinary amount of passionfruit. i kept on studying chinese and we tried a new board game. plus, i managed to do a medical hat-trick last month: got stung by a bee on the tip of a finger (still hurts to type), got a uti and a diagnosis of tendinitis on my arm. :| nothing too bad, just all mildly inconvenient.

i look forward to writing a bit more here this month!

one second everyday — june 2019

june! friends and family and dogs staying over, and more passionfruit than we can eat. we took some time to learn about new stuff (like passive houses and electric cars), and did a little weekend getaway to explore mérida. i turned 37 and got a box of my favorite pencils for my birthday, which was brilliant! we soft-launched something we’ve been cooking for a long time. the boy went to russia for 3 days (which is the furthest we’ve been apart) but then came back safe and sound. 50% of the year is done and i’m happy and grateful.

one second everyday — may 2019

dear may,

you saw paulo finish the eurovelo, saw us eating lots of snacks, a developer’s conference, the EU elections, weddings and birthday parties…

my arm is still sore from that vaccine!
