previously: march 2013.
one month ago, we saw this great ted talk by cesar kuriyama. every day, he recorded one second of his life, and after a while, edited all the seconds on a video montage. it’s a simple thing… and yet, the result is such a captivating mashup of glimpses into someone’s life, that we immediately decided to download the 1 second everyday app and give it a go.
so… one month later, this is how the past month looked like in our lives:
somedays we almost forgot about it until the last minute and ended up recording something dull (or food), so the result isn’t a showpiece… and still, like magic, every brief second brings to mind a very specific moment, which in turn allows us to instantly remember the whole day!
having a visual reminder of every single day i ever lived is pretty awesome. i think i want do this for the rest of our lives! :D
on the news
it’s been a rough week, but we’re trying to keep our cool and see the good side of it. indeed, not all is bad. we recently did an interview for a tv channel here in germany, which was broadcasted yesterday. we’ve managed to dodge the cameras for 7 years (and i don’t think it’s an experience we’re eager to repeat any time soon…) but somehow, i think it turned out ok. :)
you can see it here, for a few more days at least.
lomokino
i was given the lomokino last christmas and i immediately started shooting small clips with it. the shooting kept going sporadically for months… and strangely, the handle would just keep turning, seemingly ad infinitum… until i started to wonder if i had loaded it correctly… so last week i took it off and turned it in for developing.
and lo and behold, there was magic happening in tiny photography frames!
most of the roll was shot in winter and was underexposed, but i really like the bits i could salvage. i like how they’re somehow more than a photo, but not quite as complex as a video, and always with this old fashioned feeling… i can’t wait to see what else i can do with it! loading up the next roll right away :)
